Tallit
Series:Redemption
Size:36 x 36
Medium:Oil on linen
There are, naturally, many things going on in this painting and in my head. On the one hand, this painting should be very peaceful. I am hoping to evoke a feeling of being underwater almost, between the scarf decorations and the background. On the other hand, this is part of the redemption series, and the name is that of the Jewish prayer shawl, traditionally worn only by men so as to isolate themselves from worldly temptations. The painting should express a feeling of that tranquil isolation, but at the same time, it is a painting centered in worldly temptation. What type of a deity would make so many rules, and have so many groups claiming to be the only ones with the proper rules? Or is there just an innate desire for immortality as expressed through generational continuity?

wonderful. truly.

B.H. says:
I see this painting as self imposed blindness but being exposed to others, vision, mind wrapped in happy colors dealing with the open exposer, feeling of being exposed, open, out there, alone.

Heather says:
I really like it. I actually thought about it a few times during the day, so that must say something. You are very talented.
