I did this painting as a break between larger paintings and to see if I could letter text. In the process I learned that my father was correct -- less text is way better. And that I need a lot of practice with text. But, it was still fun to do. This painting features the beginning of Chapter 2 of Master and Margarita along with a Batman comic. I also wanted to experiment with the magnifying glass to see if I could make a decent version of that. It was a fun small painting to make, and certainly shows I have a lot of studying to do. Batman features a quote from the beginning of The Wasteland, and hence the title of the painting. The egg is a tribute to Petrov-Vodkin.

Michael, This is really fascinating, the text, the meaning, the colors colliding, exceptional work.

Sandra Rudd says:
Lacking artist speak, can I get away with saying "I really, really like it?"
