In my first sketches for this painting it was going to be surreal, and filled with fabric of many colors crossing the canvas with different fruits floating through the air, representing various paths through life. But after I did the modeling session, I reduced to the essentials. It became less about the path and more about a destination. Perhaps this represents a future I'd like. The painting is strongly influenced by Alma-Tadema's Silver Favourites. |
