Madonna with Pop Cherubim
Series:After Venice
Size:9x12
Medium:Oil on linen
One of my favorite paintings in Venice was Madonna with Red Cherubim, by Bellini. The intense red and blues were fantastic, making the painting look almost surreal, despite being painted somewhere around 1485. The colors in my version are more intense than the photo, and the photos of the Bellini online are even worse. You really must travel to Venice to appreciate it. My painting is obviously a bit modernized. My cherubim are pop cherubim, although equally as happy, and the madonna is wearing a burqa. But I'm pretty sure it is the madonna under there. You can think about the message, and decide whether I am deeply spiritual or a clear infidel. Either interpretation is valid.

I am called a fatwa on you.

Jim says:
I like this one too, so I bought it. The artist was nice enough to throw in one of the flying cherubs as a bonus. I've always wanted a pet like that

Bryan Hess says:
A look at an image 500 plus years later, with the experiences of a visionary. it is wild that you allow, and can give people a look threw your eyes! You have opened mine with the new ability to look threw yours and find myself. Thanks
