 | Hand of Saint Fiacre
| Series: | Sculpture | | Size: | 6' x 1' | | Medium: | Sculpture | This is another one of the many yard sculptures I have created as part of my landscaping project. Here you can see the day time and the night time view. I got the idea while eating chicken feet (yum yum) at a Chinese restaurant. I was talking with my mother about making a necklace from the bones and then it struck me what to do with them. I took the bones from several feet in a take away bag, which the waitress provided with not too much of a strange look, and then arranged them into the sculpture in the shape of a human hand. If you don't know that they are from a chicken, you might find it slightly ghoulish. If you do know they are from a chicken, you might have the same conclusion. Saint Fiacre was a saint who went off to live in the woods, so it seemed to me his hand would be appropriate as the relic origin. He is also the patron saint of STDs, which I hope is not appropriate. At night they light up, lit by two retrofitted blinkee lights that change color in a different rhythm. |
